More on New York's Upstate strategy

The wife of New York's governor has launched an initiative to connect young professionals in Upstate New York.  The Young Leaders Congress represents 15 young business leaders in the region.  The Congress will focus on identifying regional assets and developing strategies to attract and retain young professionals under 40 years old.  Read more.

The governor has proposed a revitalization plan for Upstate which includes a $4 billion endowment for the State University of New York System.  The proposals are part of an effort by the governor to put New York’s public universities on a level with leading states like California and Michigan. The endowment is also designed  to improve the links among the State University campuses and local employers.  

In addition, the governor has proposed a $1 billion Upstate Revitalization Fund to improve infrastructure and fund other initiatives to boost the regional economy.
